In today's seminfals match, Lu faced No. 6 seed Vasek Pospisil of Canada. Pospisil is no stranger to the tennis world. He is the No. 2 player in Canada next to Milos Raonic, and ranked as high as No. 25 back in 2014. Pospisil is also one of the few players in ATP having great success in both singles and doubles, winning the Wimbledon Men's Doubles in 2014 together with Jack Sock. Lu has never beaten Pospisil in the past, losing three times in a row. The most recent match was just last month where Lu lost a close three-set match to Pospisil at the Indian Wells Masters. Pospisil went on to defeat No.1 Andy Murray in the next round.
In today's match, Lu remained aggressive and didn't give Pospisil too many chances. With the home crowd cheering on, Lu broke once eacch set and defeated Pospisil for the first time with score of 6-4, 6-4. It was for sure an important win for Lu, to beat such a tough opponent.
