Yen-Hsun Rendy Lu is in Taipei, Taiwan this week to play at the Santaizi Challenger ($125K+H). It has been two years since Lu has played in Taipei, in front of his home town crowd.
In the first round singles, Lu played against young talent 20-year-old Kuan-Yi Lee of Taiwan (No. 4 players in Taiwan, behind Lu, Jason Jung and Ti Chen). Lu and Lee just had winter training together in Thailand the past December. Lu showed his experience and won in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
In the second round singles, Lu faced Jimmy Wang of Taiwan. Although Lu won 7-5, 6-1, the match wasn't easy as Wang is an experienced player. Lu and Wang have been competing against each other since the junior days and has had a long history of good rivary over the years. They have also been teammates playing for Chinese Taipei in numerous Davis Cup events and Asian Games. The fact that both players at the age of over 30 are still playing on ATP tour should feel proud. Best of luck to Jimmy!
