Yen-Hsun Rendy Lu is in Melbourne this week to play at the Australian Open, the first grand slam event of the year. In first round singles, Lu faced 19-year-old qualifier Andrey Rublev of Russia. Lu played a good match and had 22 break points, but only converted 3 of them. Rublev served extremely well during those break point opportunities. On the other hand, Rublev converted 4 out of 7 break points. Lu lost to Rublev 6-4, 3-6, 6-7(0), 3-6 and won't get a chance to play Andy Murray the next round.
Lu will next play his first round doubles on Wednesday teaming up with partner Jiri Vesely from Czech Republic.
